Massive Software Launches Educational Programs with Schools and Universities Worldwide

Special Pricing for Educators welcomed by top animation schools including Gnomon, Savannah College of Art and Design, Ringling College of Art and Design, USC School of Cinematic Arts and Film Akademie

Tuesday 27 November 2007

On the heels of the release of Massive on Windows, Massive Software, the industry's premiere developer of autonomous agent 3D animation systems, announced that Massive educational programs have been adopted by a host of higher learning institutions including Gnomon School of Visual Effects, Savannah College of Art and Design, Ringling College of Art and Design, the USC School of Cinematic Arts, and the Institute of Animation at the Film Akademie. Massive–developed courses and curriculum at these institutions will be integrated into the foundation of the schools' respective animation and 3D programs.

Academy Award–winning Massive is the revolutionary 3D animation system that incorporates procedural animation and artificial intelligence. Massive is used by animation and visual effects artists to explore the new world of creative opportunities that AI–enabled characters make possible. Massive is in use at top visual effects facilities around the world to create any character or crowd of characters imaginable from humanoids, birds, animals and insects to inanimate objects such as cars.

"We are looking forward to using Massive software to create extremely complex scenes in advanced student animation and visual effects projects, and to using the software as a powerful research tool for scientific visualization," said Richard Weinberg, Ph.D, Chief Technologist, USC School of Cinematic Arts.

"The students at Gnomon are cranking out VFX shots that are becoming more and more complex. That, coupled with the fact that digital characters and crowd simulations in feature film and game cinematics are more in demand than ever, means that Massive Software is the right tool for our students to accomplish their goals. We're incorporating Massive into the Fall 2007 curriculum, and look forward to seeing what these students can achieve with this powerful tool", said Heather Hughes, Director of Marketing, Gnomon School of Visual Effects.

"The Savannah College of Art and Design is pleased to partner with Massive Software, truly one of the industry leaders in visual effects software," said Peter Weishar, dean of the SCAD School of Film and Digital Media. "SCAD has a commitment to incorporating sophisticated technology into our curriculum that is evident in the quality of our student work, industry relationships, and state–of–the–art facilities that rival the best professional production studios. We believe these qualities, combined with an in–depth understanding of the latest Massive software, will give our students an advantage in the employment marketplace."
